Does Asbestos in your property effect the sale price?

Asbestos is certainly a word that can worry homebuyers; but what exactly is it? Asbestos is a naturally-occurring material that was widely used in building construction for many years, especially during and before the 1980s. It has thermic properties that insulate very well against heat.

Despite the fact that it was banned from use in 1999, many homes still contain asbestos. And this can become an issue when you come to sell your home.

Some homeowners can be put off buying a property by the presence of asbestos and it can effect the sale price with potential byers asking for money off the sale price.

Our advice is beat them to it and be equipped with all the right information before the buyers survey picks up potential asbestos. Not all asbestos needs to removed so long as you manage the asbestos correctly it can be fine to leave it in its place.

Here at SPE Surveying we can help by given you free advice or even undertake a management survey before the house goes to market.
